"It was the evening of May 10th, and every Indian was filled with pride and valor in their hearts for the precise strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force on eleven different Pakistani military air bases, which successfully destroyed them. Everyone thought that this time PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) was coming back to us, but then suddenly something happened which made everyone living in India unsatisfied and dejected."
Chapter 1 : Pakistan requesting for a Ceasefire understanding
The precision strikes were successfully done by the Indian Air Force on the night of May 9 and 10, in under 23 minutes, targeting 11 Pakistani military air bases, including prominent airbases like Sargodha Airbase in Rawalpindi and Skardu Airbase in Gilgit (PoK). Deeply affected by the losses inflicted by the Indian Air Force on its military bases, Pakistan started to request India for a ceasefire understanding by making a request for a DGMO-level talk on the hotline at about 1:05 PM on May 10.
The DGMO-level talk on the hotline started at about 3:35 PM IST, and a ceasefire understanding was accepted by both nations from 5:00 PM IST May 10 to 12:00 PM IST on May 12. Another DGMO's meeting was scheduled in the Uri sector for the evening of May 12.
Chapter 2 : The Entry of Trump
A media briefing by the Foreign Secretary of India was scheduled at 6:00 PM IST for informing the nation about the ceasefire understanding but here comes a twist.
Trump came up with a banger :
This message was posted by Trump at 5:33 PM IST which was before the media briefing time of the Indian Foreign Secretary.
Everyone in India thought that the US had again intervened in the conflict, but the main reason for disappointment for the people of India was why any third party, especially one like the US, which openly supported Pakistan in the 1965 Indo-Pak War, came in between at a time when we were openly dominating Pakistan at every possible aspect of the conflict. The worst part, which most Indians felt about this post of Trump, was that he made India and Pakistan stand at the same level. Trump was a news reporter in his past, and so he knows the keywords that can affect a large mass of the public, so that he can be in the limelight for some more time because everyone will be talking about him only due to his unpredictable statements.
Another statement was issued by the U.S. President on the morning of May 11, 2025.
"Trump indirectly claimed to have prevented a nuclear war between India and Pakistan."
Chapter 3 : Why India accepted the ceasefire understanding with Pakistan?
India does not want a conflict with the Pakistan Army, they only want to kill the terrorists inside Pakistan so that any Pahalgam 2025, Pulwama 2019 etc. cannot be repeated again and the citizens of our country can feel completely safe while travelling to Kashmir and lastly to get our PoK(Pakistan occupied Kashmir) back.
This is also true that this foreign policy of our country is also questioned by the intellectual part of our population because of the ceasefire understanding.
Chapter 4 : US did nothing except taking credit
Randhir Jaiswal, the Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India, spoke at a media briefing on May 14, 2025, regarding the U.S.-claimed ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
"From the time Operation Sindoor began on May 7 until the understanding on the cessation of military action on May 10, there were conversations between Indian and U.S. leaders on the evolving military situation. The issue of trade did not come up in any of these discussions," the MEA stated.
The trade offer that former President Trump claimed he made to India in exchange for agreeing to the ceasefire was clearly denied by the MEA spokesperson.
The MEA also rejected Trump's assertion that he had prevented a nuclear war between India and Pakistan.
"See the military action from our side was entirely in the conventional domain. This was also made very clear in the defence briefing yesterday. There were some questions also which were asked. There were some reports, however, that Pakistan National Command Authority will meet on 10th May, which we saw. But this was later denied by them. Pakistan FM has himself denied the nuclear angle on record." MeA said
In conclusion, the U.S. did nothing to broker the ceasefire but still took credit for it, which left many Indians disappointed on the evening of May 10.
